The Straight Ahead Jazz Quintet® (SAJQ), led by Walter Pearson, has been playing straight ahead jazz in the Dallas area since 1987. The group performs standard and classic popular and jazz compositions with a style adaptable to club, concert, dancing and special event audiences, public or private.
The band plays regularly at corporate events, private parties, wedding receptions and at restaurant/clubs. It has performed at jazz festivals in Corpus Christi, Lake Texhoma, the Denton Arts and Jazz Fest, at the Dallas Jazz Society's Salute to Duke Ellington, and the Taste of Dallas in the West End. Other significant venues include the Sammons Jazz Series, Winstar Casino and The Dallas Museum of Art.
